Publish Draft Workflow You are editing a draft workflow. The step 'DESIGN PROGRESS' has no outgoing transitions in the Active workflow, so you cannot add any outgoing transitions in the Draft workflow. I'm trying to add a transition which wasn't add in the beginning. Now I want to add it

The error message you're seeing indicates that the step "DESIGN PROGRESS" in the active workflow does not have any outgoing transitions. Jira does not allow adding outgoing transitions in the draft workflow if they don't exist in the active workflow. This is one of the limitations when working with draft workflows in Jira.

To work around this, you'll need to follow these steps:

  1. Create a Backup of the Current Workflow

    • Before making any major changes, it's a good idea to save a copy of the current workflow. This can be done by copying the workflow.

2. Edit the Active Workflow Directly

  • Instead of editing a draft, you'll need to edit the active workflow directly.

  • Go to the workflow that you want to edit.

  • Click on "Edit" (not the draft, but the main workflow).

  • Now, add the outgoing transition from the "DESIGN PROGRESS" status.

3. Add Other Necessary Changes

  • If you have other changes in the draft that you want to keep, you'll need to make those changes manually in the active workflow.

4. Publish the Workflow

  • Once you've made your changes, you can publish the workflow. This will make the changes live, so ensure you're ready for that.

5. Inform Your Team

  • Whenever you make changes to workflows, especially active ones, it's a good idea to inform your team about the changes. This ensures that there's no confusion when using the updated workflow.

Remember, editing an active workflow can have immediate effects on the issues that use that workflow. Always be cautious and make sure you understand the implications of your changes. If possible, try changes in a test environment first.
